Transfanimal is a transdisciplinary artistic research and exchange project exploring the relationship between art and the living world.
Bringing together artists from Belgium and Chile, the project combines dance, theatre, music, visual arts, performance, and research in a collaborative process centered on the question of animality. Present in the arts, myths, sciences, and collective imagination, animality becomes a lens through which to explore our relationship with other species and, more broadly, questions of difference, interculturality, and coexistence.
The Chilean chapter of the project took place in March–April 2024 through laboratories, public encounters, performances, exhibitions, and discussions held in Los Molles, Valparaíso, Santiago, and Quilpué.
The project brings together three main partners: the Festival Poesía y Música (Chile), La Máscara Danzante (Chile), and Théâtre Cœur de Terre (Wallonia-Brussels). It is supported by Wallonia-Brussels International and AGCID as part of the 7th Wallonia-Brussels/Chile Joint Commission.
With the artists : Belen Alfaro, Ana Allende, Antonia Arriaza, Gaëlle Defeyt « Gilda Fêlée », Adrian Diaz Lopez, Federico Eisner, Gabriela Gonzales Gonzales, Lucia Puime Vivas, Rodrigo Rojas, Emilienne Tempels, Natalia Sanzana Tapia, Pepo Urrea Silva, Camila Vaccaro, Edith Van Malder, Emmanuelle Vincent
Transfanimal Laboratory – Los Molles
Six days of residency and collective research brought together Belgian and Chilean artists in an exceptional natural setting on the shores of the Pacific Ocean (El Puquén Nature Reserve - Los Molles).
This working period enabled an interdisciplinary exchange of experiences around artistic practices and representations of the living world.

Pensamiento colectivo
Two public gatherings in Valparaíso and Santiago brought together artists from different disciplines to reflect on representations of the animal in contemporary art, opening a space for dialogue and shared thinking.
